25 Jul edjuster and the B. C. Wildfires: Current Situation
B.C. is in a state of emergency as 150 wildfires continue to burn across the province, mostly in the central and southern Interior. Hundreds of firefighters from B.C. and beyond have been deployed to combat them.
Approximately 20,000 people are still displaced by the fires and have flooded into evacuation centres in Kamloops and elsewhere. During the worst phase of the fires, more than 45,000 people had been evacuated from their homes.
Currently edjuster has employees in Kamloops, Kelowna, Vancouver and Edmonton, handling claims associated with the BC Wildfires. To date, the company has 8 Content Claims Specialists involved with approximately 40 claims. The reps are meeting with insureds wherever they are located, to begin working through the rebuilding process.
Currently, all involved are awaiting the reopening of Cache Creek. The main Wildfire is located at the 100 Mile House in BC, along with two developing in Soda Creek and near Clinton, BC. Williams Lake, 4 hours north, is still under an evacuation notice and the outcome of that is unknown at this time.
At this time, it is difficult to estimate the entirety of the damage. The fires in many areas are still active and evacuation orders are still in place.
edjuster staff will continue to support and remain onsite in the area, until all claims in process are complete.
